Yearly care rhythm
A Simple Calendar for Between Visits
Each month, watch and listen. Run the door a few times and note any new sound, shudder or lopsided movement. Every few months, wipe the sensor lenses, look over visible bolts for looseness and put garage door lubricant on hinge pivots and roller bearings.
Once a year, have the springs, cables and bottom brackets inspected by a technician, since those parts are under high tension and are not for owners to touch. Write down the date, count the year's cycles and compare the total with your spring's rating.
